No life without soil – it is not by chance that »earth« is one of the four elements. Here you can find out everything about land as a provider of food, as a vital part of biology, as a subject of contested ownership and as an object of speculation.

This section is guarded by a stuffed bull (Heckrind). Its external appearance is mostly like that of the aurochs – the original wild form of today’s domestic cattle. As the first inhabitant of the post-Ice-Age Barnim, it reminds us of the original wilderness and the beginnings of agriculture.
