Powerful natural forces formed the Barnim landscape tens of thousands of years ago – no less than three ice ages in succession passed over the North German Plain. The last one ended 15,000 years ago and created the basis for human settlement and use. You can look and marvel at the relics of the first settlers and their successors here. Cultural objects from the Ice Age, Stone Age, Bronze Age and the Slav Age give you an idea of the lives of our forefathers.

To obtain an impression of the icy forces of nature during the Ice Age, you can witness a magnificent glacier spectacle in our multimedia show “Wild Barnim – 20,000 years in 300 seconds”. Spectacular pictures, coupled with a unique feast for your ears together with special light and colour effects take you on a journey through time, from the icy beginnings of the Barnim to the arrival of humans there.
